Children’s party: Careers party theme

Children are already thinking about what they would like to become when they grow up. One wants to become a pilot, the other a teacher, firefighter, police officer, cook, business woman or carpenter.

Invitation

Depending on your son or daughter’s favorite profession, you can make a suitable invitation. Does he/she want to join the fire brigade? Then cut out large flames from yellow paper. Write the invitation on the back. Of course you invite everyone. Other firefighters who have to put out the fire, police officers who find out who started the fire, carpenters who build a new building and businessmen who want to work in the new building again. In short, you ask everyone to come dressed up in their favorite profession. Look up easy jobs in advance for hats from various professions. If someone is not dressed up, they can at least choose a hat.

Furnishings/Decorations

You can make many objects with different colors of cardboard. For the fire brigade, a white building drawn on cardboard with windows from which fire is coming. Or a very sweet kitty that is sitting in the tree and needs to be helped by the fire brigade. Hang up a large airplane for the pilots and stewardesses. Plasters and bandages for the doctors and nurses. A pig and a sheep for the farmer. You can put up big coins for the business people. Hammers and nails for construction people. And so on.

Games

Who am I

Stick a picture of a profession on a child’s back. This child may now ask the other children questions and the other children may only answer yes or no. For example: do I have dangerous work? Do I work in the office? Do I catch criminals? Do I work in construction?

Hammer Tap

Who can hammer a nail into a block of wood the fastest? Drive the nail partly into the wood in advance so that the children do not have to hold the nail and therefore cannot hit their fingers.

Catch the crook (variant on skipper can I sail over) The police officer stands in the middle and has to catch all the crooks by tapping them. The children keep walking to the other side. Tagged criminals are pinned down and remain stationary at the tagged spot. To get free, they can help the police by catching another crook. They must stand still, but are allowed to wave their arms to tap a criminal who is running past. If they have tagged someone, they themselves are free again. The last crook left is the cop.

Airplane competition

To see who is suitable as a pilot or stewardess, we are going to hold a competition with airplanes. Everyone folds his or her plane. Which plane is the fastest and therefore flies the furthest?

The business game

For the real businessman or woman this is a piece of cake, isn’t it? Provide multiple assignments or questions. You can keep this in one place, but also plot a route. They can make or lose money with every assignment or question. You can use fake money, but also bacon. Everyone starts with some money, for example 5 euros (5 pieces of bacon). If they get an assignment right, they have earned one or more euros. You can determine this yourself per assignment or question. If they get it wrong, they give up some euros. Of course there are easy assignments so that they can earn money, but there may also be some difficult assignments. As a result, some lose money and others win, so that there is also a difference. Furthermore, a real businessman sometimes has to take a chance, for example in the game of ball. They can then say in advance how much money they want to bet. Correct, then it will be doubled, if incorrect, they will hand in that amount. Who did best as a businessman or businesswoman in the end?

Eat Drink

To round off the business game, you can treat the children to children’s champagne.

Of course they also want a snack; prepared by a real chef or you let the children be the cook. At the beginning of the party you can make chef’s hats with the children from strips of white cardboard and white crepe paper . After this it is time for the cake, which they can decorate themselves. Later in the afternoon they might put on their chef’s hats again to top their own mini pizzas, thread fruit skewers and mix (of course non-alcoholic) cocktails.

Hand-out gifts

You make airplanes for the pilot to hand out. Wrap an empty toilet roll with white paper. Roll a point from another piece of paper and stick it to one of the ends of the roll. You make a slot on both sides of the roll into which you slide the cardboard wings. Fold an edge on the inside and secure it with glue or tape if necessary. After this, you can put the sweets or a small gift in the roll and seal the back with white paper. You can draw windows on the plane with a black marker.

For a police officer, take a rectangular box and cover it with white paper. You can also fold a white rectangle from slightly firmer paper. Cut black circles for the tires and draw the stripes, doors and windows with a marker. For the flashing lights, dip a small cotton ball in orange/red paint and place it on top of the car. Next to this stick two elongated blue cotton balls. You can also make a red fire truck in the same way. You can fold a white strip of paper in a concertina manner (zig-zag) as a ladder on the roof. A typical characteristic can also be found and imitated for other professions.

In short

Plenty of ideas for a party and with a little extra creativity you can put your own spin on this party.
