Space in your head

The headline sounds popular and, strictly speaking, it is. However, the fact that it is so popular says something. It is a consequence of Western society as we have all organized it and which we also have to give new shape to, at least if the hectic pace of Western society deprives you of space in your head. Something that more and more people are suffering from.

Balance

Life is about balance. Splurges are fine, after all, you still have to live, but it has to be compensated for somewhere. You can compensate for this yourself or your body can do it for you, with all possible consequences. It is not surprising that trying to keep track of whether everything is still in balance is by far the preferred option.
It is even logical that people get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the day; you have to keep up with it to survive is a frequently used statement. Perhaps that is true, but that does not deprive you of your own responsibility to build in sufficient moments to maintain that balance in addition to your hectic life. So if you keep going, you can never place the blame elsewhere.

Swallowing in the braincase

If you want space in your head and have to run the mop through it, so to speak, there are several options. While one person seeks total peace and isolation, the other, as it were, brings in extra help to relieve himself a bit.

Peace

If you opt for peace and quiet, you can backpack into the Himalayas or book a luxury spa where you can stay in seclusion. It depends entirely on your preference and the budget you have or set available.
In fact, it does not matter in what form you seek peace/quiet , what matters is that you come to yourself in an environment where you can feel comfortable and relaxed. On the one hand, you have already made a start by being in a different environment. Your brain is set up in such a way that when you come into a new environment, you automatically activate your brain. New impressions come in and need to be processed. This naturally dispels your high thoughts, which can cause so much pressure in your hectic life.

In addition to the different environment, the space you get to organize your brain is also very important. If you are in a hectic environment for a long time, you often do not get around to organizing things and seeing whether and, if so, what kind of baggage is hanging around in your head. The question Is an ordinary holiday not good enough? can just pop up in this. Maybe, but for many people a holiday also means planning, keeping themselves and/or family and friends busy and, above all, having a nice holiday. Where having a nice holiday is the idea that is in the head and therefore has to happen.

To isolate yourself in any environment is to be thrown back on yourself. Look into your own soul with a mirror and experience where the pressure lies, what you want differently or what perhaps needs to be changed, what you can or should do to regain that balance and, above all, feel a lot. Feeling your body is essential, because to really feel it is to step out of your head (more and more people live in the head) and feel your body.

External help

If you think you should approach it differently, and in the end you always decide for yourself, you can also look at what bothers you in order to see where external help can remove that disruptor and thus offer you space in your head.
What makes people busy in their heads are the daily things that still have to be done, the so-called high thoughts. These remain in your head, no matter what you are doing, and in addition to being distracting and thus affecting your concentration, they can also lead to frustration. After all, these are things that still have to be done and you are now elsewhere and cannot do these things now.

Well, the best way to start is to make an overview of all those things that are floating around in your head and immediately come up with solutions. There are always solutions and there are enough tools to prevent it from lingering in your high thoughts. Think of

  • If the house needs to be cleaned, you can hire help for that.
  • The groceries need to be picked up, call the grocer’s grocery service.
  • Clothes need to be tidied up, pack one evening or enlist the help and make three piles: one for the laundry, one back in the closet and one for the laundrette.
  • Clean up the house, walk through the house (together with the help) and throw away anything you haven’t used for more than a year, what you’re breaking your neck over or where you wonder what the added value is.
  • If you have lost everything, make sure everything has a permanent place.

is also important to get a good feeling in addition to all those jobs, whether or not to outsource. The good feeling is different for everyone and can vary from:

  • A fresh bunch of flowers in the house.
  • A freshly scented house.
  • Food that is ready to be cooked (or already ready).

The advantage of the good feeling is that you can also have someone else do this. If your partner is not a flower bringer, you should still ask the helper to put down a fresh bouquet every week. This also applies to ensuring a nice smell in the house or a pot that is ready to be cooked or already cooked. Find practical solutions for things that can be solved practically and then you can always see whether it has already provided enough space in your head.

Now!

Whatever approach you choose, never forget that in addition to working towards something, you also have to live in the NOW. NOW enjoy what you are doing, including putting together a list, arranging help, booking a trip or whatever, and not just living for something and thinking you will enjoy it. Many people live more in the future and forget about the present. Life really becomes a bit lighter when you enjoy the day.
