Ten tips for a successful bachelor’s day

When someone in the family or circle of friends gets married, it is customary to organize a bachelor party. This can be done in one evening, but you can also take a full day for it. It is up to the friends and family to make it an unforgettable moment and that is not always easy. These tips should help you get started. It doesn’t have to be expensive at all, but you should still take some time to organize everything. So don’t underestimate it. Good luck.

Meet with a limited group

First of all, you can’t do this alone. In principle it is possible, but you could use some help both in conceiving and in effectively recording it. Keep the group limited because the saying ‘The more souls, the merrier’ does not apply here. The discussions are a lot more difficult if you have too large a group. It is useful to gather ideas from all participants, but then discuss them with five people afterwards. You can also keep the rest informed by email.

Make enough time

Keep in mind that a good bachelor’s day cannot be put together in an hour. That is why it is important that you sit down together a few months before the day in question. This way there is enough time and you don’t have to worry about time pressure. Some activities also need to be recorded well in advance. It would be a shame if you had something in mind that you could not proceed with because you requested it too late.

Determine the number of participants

It is important to know how many people actually participate in the bachelor’s day. It’s best to know this before you start planning things. This can certainly determine the assignments and activities. So discuss this first with the person who is getting married. Who do they wish would be invited to their bachelor’s day? Collect email addresses or phone numbers and contact this group. Some activities are better done with several people, others are more suitable for a limited group. The number of participants is also important for the transportation provided. For example, you can rent a van for a small group, but if there are more of you (and you still want to travel together), it may be more ideal to travel by train.

Start with a word spin

On a bachelor’s day it is important that one person is central and that is of course the person who will soon tie the knot. The intention is that all activities have a link with that person. Making a word spider can therefore be a useful tool. Think especially about his/her hobbies, job, favorite food, character, anecdotes, things you experienced together,… In short, things that are so typical of him or her. From there you can come up with activities and assignments. If you do not have enough inspiration here within the limited group, you can make use of the others who signed up to come along or feel free to consult parents, brothers, sisters, sisters-in-law,… Sometimes you can find something there. to know what can also be useful.

Provide appropriate clothing for the bachelor

The clothing provided can also be linked to that word spider. Then think again about hobbies, work,… You can go as far as you want. Try to ensure that it is a fun and pleasant day for the bachelor because some suits are really difficult to wear. Also check in advance what he/she likes. Some people don’t mind wearing a carnival costume all day, while others prefer a more subtle outfit. It may also be advisable to dress the rest of the group as well. For example, this can be in the same theme as the bachelor or the opposite. If you can’t come up with a theme, it’s always fun to wear the same T-shirts (with any printing). That does not have to be expensive at all. In some chain stores you can find T-shirts for a few euros and you can make the print yourself. How do you do that? You make something on the computer and print it on special paper. You can then iron that paper onto the T-shirts afterwards. Simple, but very beautiful. This way you are immediately recognizable as a group. A wig for everyone is also an option here.

Do not only provide assignments for the future husband/wife

It’s always fun when the bachelor has to complete a few assignments, but also make sure there is enough action for the other people. Otherwise it will just be a boring affair. Here too you can work in a very different way. Some singles don’t like tasks at all, but then there are other alternatives. Everyone knows the sales order, but it does not always have to be included. You can also frame the assignments within a theme.
Examples of fun assignments

  • Collect tips for a good marriage: provide a booklet and let the bachelor ask for advice. The tips can then be noted in that book and you will immediately have a counselor if things are not going well in the marriage. Of course you can decorate that book with the names of the couple,…
  • Who is the husband/wife of…? The bachelor goes around with a number of photos. There are many future men or women among those photos, but only one is the future of our bachelor. The intention is for the bystanders to choose the right expectant one. Some do this for a small amount of money, but if you don’t want to ask for money, you can opt for giving a small reward after a good guess
  • Write a love face for your future husband or wife. This can then be used afterwards. Either you choose to have the poem read at the end of the day, or you use it at the wedding itself.

Fill the program sufficiently, but don’t overdo it

You do not only have to provide assignments for the bachelor, but also provide activities for the entire group, preferably at different locations. To do this, go back to your word spider. What suits your bachelor? Does he/she prefer to do something active or keep it quiet? Plan the day completely so that there are no dead moments. Also allow some time here and there to eat and drink something.
Examples of fun activities

  • Build a raft together and then sail with that raft for a while
  • Have someone give a cocktail demonstration
  • Playing a game (e.g. from the youth movement) or exercising together (football, baseball, hockey,…)
  • Take pole dancing initiation
  • Going to the fair together
  • Going for a photo shoot (doesn’t have to be expensive because everyone only has to pay a little)
  • Go karting, paintball,…
  • Take a bike ride
  • Cooking together

Provide adapted transport and provide a (sober) driver

It is always nice when the group can move together. That’s why it’s always fun to rent a van or – if you want something more exclusive – a limousine. However, if they are too small, the train or tram is also an option. If shared transport is not an option, you will need to provide a more special means of transport for the bachelor. For example, you can use a van and decorate it completely with hearts, photos of the couple, the names of the duo, balloons,… Or perhaps the bicycle is also a fun – and more environmentally friendly – alternative. It is therefore fun to attach a rope with cans and a gigantic horn to the two-wheeler. Also agree beforehand who will take the bachelor home safely!

Save the drink for later

This tip can ensure that your day is a success. A lot of time goes into the preparation and it is a pity that everything falls apart due to excessive alcohol consumption. Of course you can have a drink, but keep that for the evening. Most activities will then be over and there will be less risk of participants having to drop out prematurely.

Take plenty of photos

Discuss in advance who (all) will take photos. The day passes very quickly for everyone – and especially in the case of the bachelor – and it is fun to relive everything afterwards through photos. It is also nice to bundle the photos in an album and then give it as a gift at the wedding. This way they immediately have a very nice souvenir.

I wish you the best of luck with the preparations and enjoy the bachelor party together!
