The T-shirt we know today is a basic part of our clothing. It is also one of the few pieces of clothing that stands out so little, together with the underpants and socks of course. Things were different in the 1990s: T-shirts from cartoons, films and popular TV series were all the rage at the time. Boys usually wore the long-sleeved version under their shirt.
In contrast to trousers, which hung lower on men, T-shirts became shorter on women. It was not strange to see women on the street with a bare belly, often with a navel piercing. Just think of Britney Spears who rose to fame above all the media boos. It became such a rage that even toddlers were spotted with their bellies exposed.
Trousers
The most important trouser trend for women in the 90s was elephant legs, extremely wide legs. These were also very popular in the 1970s. The baggy trousers were particularly popular among men. It contains numerous pockets where you could store all kinds of things. These pants were especially popular among young people who wore them mainly to look cool. These trousers were not exclusively worn by men. The tougher women also showed it off.
Jeans were also back in style. It reached its peak at the end of the 90s when everyone was so crazy about jeans that everyone had to have a denim vest. In the sports world, the Adidas brand started to rise. With his vertical stripes on the side and press studs he fought his way to the top.

Small backpacks were introduced in the 1990s. They quickly became fashionable and thus replaced the hand and belt bags of the time. What’s really nice about fashion is how old things are coming back into fashion. Today, handbags have become fashionable again and you hardly see such a small backpack on someone’s back anymore, which would be very wrong nowadays.
The mealy half hearts also made their debut in the nineties. Couples increasingly opted for necklaces that were split in two. Today you will find such necklaces as broken hearts, butterflies everywhere… Very sleek necklaces with flowers, hearts, etc. were also completely fashionable at that time.

The Gabber
Gabbers are characterized by their Cavello tracksuits and Nike Air Max shoes. The laces are hidden in the Nike shoes in a special way. Gabbers are also easily recognized by their shaved heads. In women you can see this in their tightly combed hair that is worn in a ponytail. Gabbers are not only known for their traditional costumes. Since the 1990s, they have also been featured as partygoers playing gabber music. A style characterized by a fast rhythm. The dance that the gabbers perform is called chopping, after the choppy way in which they move.
