Get out of your comfort zone!

There may be all kinds of reasons why you leave your comfort zone, but many people are happy to stay within their comfort zone. The comfort zone is known, safe and governed by neutrality, mediocrity and sometimes even indifference. Yet more and more people are becoming aware that by stepping out of your comfort zone, you create more possibilities and other doors open for you.

The ‘comfort zone’

The comfort zone is a phase in your life that you find yourself in. It is often not even a conscious choice, but for a moment things go the way they go. Within the known, what you go without thinking much, where you have no fear and where you feel comfortable. There are no challenges in this phase of comfort.

Good or bad?

Whether or not you step out of your comfort zone is up to you and is not necessary if you like the life you lead. That choice lies with the person in question. We are often talking about a mediocre and often regulated life. Things will be different if the regulated comfortable life is not really what you want (anymore), but for example you find it difficult to step out of the comfort zone or you are afraid that your environment will not stimulate you. Reason enough not to get out.

Stepping out of the comfort zone

But assuming that you do, you are setting yourself up for a path that will not always run smoothly. Not everyone in the area will appreciate the man or woman who seeks out the challenge, because this brings commotion and commotion can disrupt the regulated life. This also immediately indicates that these are people who are also in the comfort zone.

What does it yield?

It is not possible to say in advance what the results of stepping out of the comfort zone will be, but if you set goals in your life and go for them, it will usually increase your happiness. It can still be scary or exciting, but taking the steps can also give a euphoric feeling. Furthermore, facing life’s challenges increases your creativity. Creativity that can express itself in different ways and which can encourage you to do new things.

How do you approach it?

If you want to step out of your comfort zone, there are some things you can think about before starting this process:

  • Start by being honest and direct. This does not mean that you should speak bluntly and bluntly, but do express how you experience something and what you think about it. It may seem that this makes someone less happy. But gentle healers make stinking wounds.
  • Tackle something you wouldn’t normally do. This may involve practicing a sport that you would normally not choose. But it can also be something like food or a drink.
  • Break your normal rhythm by not doing a number of things or doing them very differently. For example, if you normally keep up with the news, don’t do this for a few days. Do you read and answer your email perfunctorily, then don’t do it for a while, etc.

Observe

Observe how differently those around you react when you deal with things differently. Sometimes they are small things, but they can give you new insights, lead to surprising conversations and/or help you further achieve your goal. This is the beginning of change and a start to starting the process and doing where you want to go.

Finally

Facing life’s challenges is not the simplest of life’s decisions, but it is enriching. It helps if the environment can play a positive critical role, but there are also many examples where people have taken on life’s challenges against all opinions and have successfully met them. Where success is your own interpretation.
