The world of today

Things are going well with current developments in technology. More and more unnecessary needs are created. It’s getting crazier, faster and faster and we need more, more, more. But there are so many beautiful things around us that we no longer see through the screen in front of us. Below are some tips for entertainment outside the modern world. You will see that you start to enjoy the little things around you.

If it isn’t there…

I’m the last to say things used to be better. I’m around thirty and I’m certainly not going to say out loud that I know it all. However, there are some things that bother me and that I notice make the world more impersonal. Of course, each period has its own influence. Nowadays technology brings that with it. Of course I am not a saint and I am also guilty of some forms of technology where I sometimes seem to forget the kindness. I realize that we cannot go back to an era without technology, simply because it is indispensable and I don’t think we should want that either. Sort of like: if it isn’t there you don’t miss it, but once you have it

Digital world versus Reality

What do I want to achieve with this article? That we should just be a little friendlier to each other when we meet in the park, in the city, in the supermarket, at parties, etc. All communication seems to be disrupted by technology these days. There isn’t a party, train station, football match or shopping route where hundreds of people aren’t watching a screen at the same time while in the company of others. A lunch with a friend where the phone is visible on the corner of the table and where every bite or sip is interrupted when a text message, WhatsApp or Facebook notification arrives, where all conversations between the two are stopped to first see what’s happening in the digital world. I still don’t understand what drives people to consider that world more important than the real world.

Whether you’re actually going to use my tips or are just curious (or have already given up at this point because you think your digital behavior isn’t that bad ), I’ve experienced this and my world is a lot better since I cut back on technology. start enjoying the little things we have around us.

Tip 1: Go away without a phone

To de-stress and get away from technology and the busy world behind it, it might be nice for your companion to go away without a phone. Leave your phone at home and go shopping, have lunch, dinner, go to the cinema or just visit each other and ban each other from using telephones. When you get home you can catch up on the damage and you will notice that you have missed little or nothing.

It is also nice to clear your head and take a walk, or just sit at home with good music without the computer or telephone on, without a mobile phone. You will see that you gain very different insights. You will see things you would not have seen otherwise and you will enjoy nature in all its beauty. Just look at a lamb happily frolicking around its mother in the meadow in the spring. Beautiful in real life, less so in a photo posted on Facebook.

Tip 2: Write

I really don’t know anything without a phone or computer! A statement that applies to all of us. Some don’t even know what a typewriter is, let alone that letters used to be written with goose feathers. This tip is to pick up the pen and write a letter or card to your loved ones. Don’t send an email to people from your friends list, but to real friends who are useful to you in your daily life. Nowadays it’s unexpected, but it will be appreciated.

Tip 3: We off the screen

I am not against technology, but I see more and more people around me reading a book on an iPad. Shame. What could be better than a Sunday afternoon on the couch with a good book, where the pages can be turned with a tearing sound and where the musty smell of ink and paper merge in your nose. My tip: read a book on paper. It will be much more enjoyable and you will find yourself calmer than staring at a brightly lit screen.

Tip 4: Turn everything off

This seems impossible to most, but what’s wrong with turning off the computer and phone for a day. Maybe it’s the fear of loneliness, maybe it’s the fear of being forgotten or missing out (although many people seem to talk more about themselves than show genuine interest in others). I have no idea why, but the telephone seems indispensable in our lives. Yet it is not surprising when you consider that, not so long ago, we did not have mobile phones and the first ones were short-lived. But then we could enjoy ourselves and have friends, right?

Family dinner

Organize a family dinner, dinner with friends or play a board game with a large group. Hang a sign on the door: phones are prohibited and turn yours off too. You will see that not being disturbed is also more pleasant for the environment around you.

Be helpful

Two tips in one. When an accident happens, disaster tourists are always present, that has always been the case. What strikes me these days is that we no longer help or just stand there watching, but that people are filming with the telephone and then posting it on Facebook or Twitter as if to say: Wow, you think you have a cool life. , look where I ended up! Fiercely! My question: Why?

Since then the world has become faster, and we cannot ignore that either. Irritated customers at the cash register with a sullen look that indicates that everyone is in the way and that they have to hurry. Not only is it bad for your heart, it also doesn’t save you any time. I would say: be friendly to the cashier, because she is only doing her job. Smile at each other when you meet each other. It will make the world so much fun and you will feel so much better.
