Three Crazy Days at De Bijenkorf – a look back

For the true fashion lover, the Three Crazy Days at the Bijenkorf were already marked in the agenda months in advance. It was possible to benefit from significant discounts and offers on fashion items and accessories from De Bijenkorf’s rich range for three days. Unfortunately, the store chain has stopped offering the Three Foolish Days. But why exactly?

What were the Three Mad Days?

Everyone knows the images from television and the internet where shoppers almost oppress each other to get the best bargains. Things didn’t go very well, but the Three Crazy Days were very popular. During these days, De Bijenkorf offered a large part of its range at considerably lower prices. It was the perfect opportunity for fashion lovers to go shopping. In addition to the discounts and offers, performances took place, gifts were handed out, weekends away were offered cheaply or for free and special promotions took place via social media such as Facebook and Twitter. The Three Crazy Days took place every year in the autumn period, often in the month of October.

Branches and online

The Three Crazy Days took place in all Bijenkorf branches. During the sale there were longer opening hours. The shops opened extra early and closed late. You could also take full advantage of the competitive offers online.

What was on offer?

During the Three Crazy Days, mainly fashion was discounted. This includes, for example, men’s clothing, women’s clothing, children’s clothing, shoes, jewelry and cosmetics. But electronics, bags, home accessories, etc. were also discounted. Every day a booklet was issued indicating the offers. The booklets could be obtained via the De Bijenkorf website or via the special Bijenkorf App. So you could decide in advance which offers you wanted to buy.

The Three Crazy Days no longer exist

All good things come to an end and this also applied to the Three Foolish Days. De Bijenkorf decided that price-boosting promotions did not fit with the department store’s more exclusive image. As a result, the Three Crazy Days were stopped. This was a major disappointment for regular visitors to De Bijenkorf. The question is whether the Three Crazy Days will ever return. De Bijenkorf still organizes discount promotions and sales periods, but these are no longer announced in such a big way. In view of recent years, a campaign such as the Three Foolish Days, including major announcements and a significant impact on De Bijenkorf’s social media channels, will no longer return.
