If the economy and companies are not doing well, there may be layoffs. This means that people will receive unemployment benefit and possibly then social assistance. Because the government sets requirements for the degree of disability and how much work still needs to be done, this can have an effect on the benefit amount. What does it mean?
As can be seen, the level of assistance is lower than the income requirement, whereby one can receive assistance and compensation in costs. If you meet the previous income and capital requirements, you can claim remission and possibly additional money from the municipality or government. You are obliged to pay this amount of taxes every year to the national government, the water board and the municipality. However, if you do not have sufficient means, you do not have to pay it. You can get a discount or complete remission. In addition, in some municipalities you can receive a supplement to your income.
What does the Social Security Advisor do?
Because your income is insufficient to pay taxes, an income calculation is made based on your earnings and assets. On this basis it can be demonstrated that you cannot bear levies. Primarily, you must be able to provide for your basic needs. The Social Security Advisor of the local FNV department or the legal desk of the municipality can provide you with detailed information. You must then submit all your financial information so that the complete picture is clear. This way you can conveniently get discounts on levies and possibly receive additional money.
How much supplement
Every situation is different. Depending on your personal circumstances and what your finances look like, you can save money on levies and possibly receive a supplement. It’s about getting through the bad period so that you can continue on stronger afterwards. It ensures that you keep a roof over your head and that you have to worry less about your finances. It may be a few tens of euros, but it can amount to hundreds of euros per month. Also ensure that your finances improve by applying for supplementation and remission.
If you are not a member, but you would like to qualify for remission, you can submit a remission application at any institution. To this end, you must take further action yourself and demonstrate that you are below the income standard. You can also save a lot of money by making your financial situation clear.
