Enjoy romance

Romance is different for everyone, but there are a number of facets of romance that are the same for everyone. What is romance to you and how do you spoil your partner with romance? Every relationship eventually becomes a rut, no matter how hard we try to avoid that. Romance is important to keep a relationship exciting and to keep the routine out of the house as much as possible, but how do we do that?

Attention in a relationship

Romance consists of 90% attention and therefore time for each other. Do something together that breaks the routine and allows you to really connect with each other again, both on a mental and physical level. This strengthens the bond and reminds yourself and your partner why you started a relationship together in the first place. So for romance there are two of you. You cannot be romantic with children, friends or family around you.

Romantic mood

For many people, atmosphere helps to get into a romantic mood. Dine with candlelight, watch a romantic movie together, while snuggling up against each other. Sending sweet messages and compliments to each other all day long and taking good care of yourself, so that you present yourself at your best to your partner.

What do we find romantic?

  • Spontaneous actions such as being spoiled with a candlelight dinner or eating out for no reason. Or even better, a weekend away just the two of you and then arrange for a babysitter to take care of the children.
  • A nice massage with wonderfully scented massage oil.
  • A romantic film, a glass of wine and the candles lit. And then cuddle together, against each other, on the couch.
  • A walk on the beach on a warm summer evening.
  • The two of us are walking through a quiet forest.
  • Breakfast in bed, and something special, with a croissant and fresh orange juice.
  • A spontaneous gift. You probably know your partner well enough to know whether you would please her more with chocolates, perfume, flowers or a piece of jewelry. Women who want to spoil their partner usually pleasure him with the latest electronic gadget, an experience or a weekend away. Less expensive: men’s fragrance, DVD, book, bottle of wine with two glasses.
  • Cuddling, caressing and cuddling.
  • Just receiving a sweet compliment.
  • Together with a glass of wine in front of the fireplace and romantic music in the background.

Pitfalls for romance

When you and your partner pay a lot of attention to each other, romance often comes naturally, but we are often too busy with ourselves, our lives and all kinds of activities. As a result, paying attention to each other and the relationship often falls by the wayside. Yet this is important to keep the romance alive. Especially small children who need a lot of attention can make the romance disappear if you do not consciously take the time for this.
Other pitfalls are:

  • busy jobs, leaving little time.
  • a large circle of acquaintances, so there are almost never two of you.
  • teenagers in the house. They often go to bed just as late as you, to spend time together.

In these cases you have to try a little harder to find time for each other, but when you try, that time is there. A relationship also needs maintenance.
