Easter crafts for children

Easter heralds the beginning of spring. The time to go out and enjoy nature. But a visit to the petting zoo becomes even more exciting when you afterwards make crafts at home with eggs, chickens, chicks and lambs. Especially fun to do this with the little ones who have not yet gone to school. Here are some fun craft ideas.

The placemat

For Easter breakfast, lunch or brunch, everything is often done. What’s more fun than a self-made placemat under your plate. This placemat consists of a regular A4 sheet of paper colored, painted or covered with pictures or stickers. Let it dry and then laminate your son or daughter’s work of art. A laminating machine does not have to be expensive to enjoy it. Even more crafts for the Easter table include egg cups made from toilet rolls, decorated according to your own wishes (for example with two long ears on them and some whiskers). You can also thread a napkin through the toilet roll craft and then the piece of toilet roll is transformed into a napkin ring.

Making an Easter mobile

At Easter we quickly think of an Easter branch, but an Easter mobile is also a nice eye-catcher. For this mobile, stick a number of yellow or orange eggs together in the middle. You unfold the sides into a fan. A wire at the top and you can hang them somewhere, alternating with other crafts or real chocolate Easter eggs. Of course you can also use these eggs in a smaller form for your Easter branch.

Make a chick from pipe cleaners

Roll up the pipe cleaner (preferably a yellow one) so that you get a round shape. You can use two pipe cleaners if necessary. One for the head and the other for the body. A few yellow feathers for the wings and a red piece of paper or short pipe cleaner stuck on it as a beak. Then add a googly eye and you have a beautiful craft.

Dyeing eggs

You can dye boiled eggs, but also paper eggs. You can get a nice result by spraying shaving foam on the table and spraying different colors of acrylic paint on it. Using a spoon or popsicle stick, make a colorful whole and carefully dip the paper or boiled egg into it. Then let it dry for a few minutes. Remove the excess shaving cream from the paper with a squeegee or plastic ruler. We wait on the boiled egg until the paint has been properly absorbed and then we carefully remove the foam with a cloth. Little children love nothing more than playing around.

Would you like to decorate the eggs even further afterwards? Then make icing by mixing icing sugar with a few drops of water and use this as a glue to decorate the (dyed) boiled eggs with Smarties, M&Ms and other brightly colored candies. This way you get decorative candy dots on your boiled eggs.

Make a basket

Of course, Easter involves collecting eggs. Boiled eggs have now been replaced by chocolate eggs in many households, but these have to go somewhere. For example, use a butter tub with a (braided) rope attached to it as a handle. You can staple the rope to it or make two holes in the container and thread the rope through them. Let the child paint or paste the whole thing himself. To complete it completely, you can cut an Easter bunny from paper and make a tail from a small colored ball of fabric and stick it on the side of the basket. A nice craft that he/she can also use later to collect eggs and to store the eggs until they are eaten.
