Approaching and experiencing Christmas

How difficult is that, we all do that, right? But nothing turns out to be further from the truth, because we stress through the month of December and then get through Christmas exhausted and possibly with a lot of sagging in our collar. Is this fun? I can’t imagine anyone liking this, but it has crept into the minds of many men/women, we are asked so much or we think we have to do so much. Christmas has become so much an exterior that we hardly experience the inside.

Christmas spirit, what do you mean?

Whether you are religious or not, the Christmas spirit is always good and useful to think about. But we don’t seem to get around to it, because dinner has to be planned, bought and prepared. But of course we have to look smart and that means shopping and more shopping, we have to give gifts and so we continue shopping and as if that isn’t enough, we also have to do all kinds of things so as not to disappoint anyone when it happens. is about who we visit or who we invite. But as mentioned, it is not surprising to go into Christmas completely exhausted. Too bad, because it could also be done differently. It starts with planning calmly and determining for yourself what it really matters.

Christmas is not about appearances

It seems like we’ve forgotten what Christmas is actually about. The Christmas spirit has nothing to do with spending a lot of money, looking beautiful and eating full. The Christmas spirit has much more to do with being together, attention and new life. You can also translate the new life into the future and how we can deal with this carefully, but above all we must deal with it in order for there to be a future at all.

Well dressed

The fact that you want to look well-groomed out of respect for others is different from just spending a fortune to show that you look good, have a lot of money, etc. But looking well-groomed does not have to cost a lot of money. . It’s fine if you wear an outfit that you already have in your closet. For example, just add a nice accessory and it will give you a different effect. Or look at what suitable outfits you have and see if you just buy a new part. Black and gray tones do well during this period and since the bling bling is a bit passé, you can look at nice chunky cardigans or jackets to complete the look. Sets that you can wear for the rest of the winter also make it an effective purchase.

A nice meal

Being together and paying attention to this can go well with a tasty meal. It actually goes without saying that this does not necessarily have to be an expensive meal, but dress it up in a festive manner and you have already laid the foundation. Think of a candlestick that you can decorate with some Christmas tree items that you still have lying around and buy some beautiful candles. Roll a runner over a simple white tablecloth and place cozy napkins near the plates (or fold them so that they stay nice on the plate).

A few weeks before Christmas, check what the offers are in the stores and if you can put it in the freezer, buy it now. That will save you a lot of money by buying the same thing for Christmas a week or so away.

Entertain

If you do not opt for an extensive meal, but for example tasty small snacks in between, combine it with fun games. Games in particular give many people the original Christmas feeling. Scrabble, Monopoly, Triviant or a card game.

But you can also entertain your group with an extensive walk, to which you can add game elements. Things like seeing something that the other person has to look for, plotting a route or collecting objects in the forest (or similar walking environment) means that in addition to doing something together, you also work on your health.

Finally

If you start on time and do something regularly, you will not have that exhausted feeling once Christmas arrives, you will also enjoy it yourself and you will relive the real Christmas spirit. A feeling that many are alienated from. And whether there is an economic crisis or not, the basic ideas of Christmas add something to every person, whether you are religious or not.
