The Friesch Dagblad is a newspaper that is produced based on Christian beliefs. From this background, the journalism of the Friesch Dagblad serves the good as expressed in the Christian tradition. The FD therefore stands for truthfulness, commitment to people and the world and soundness. In the year that the newspaper has existed for one hundred and ten years, the FD still has to put its head down. The Friesch Dagblad will be owned by the NDC for one euro.

Friesch Dagblad
The Friesch Dagblad exists one hundred and ten years in 2013. The newspaper is an independent newspaper that has the right to exist in the province alongside the Leeuwarder Courant. There are some partnerships between FD and LC. The Friesch Dagblad is printed on the presses of the Leeuwarder Courant and the newspapers are together in the bicycle bags of the newspaper deliverers, who deliver the newspapers, which became the morning newspaper in 2013, together.
Heavy weather
The Friesch Dagblad has already been in dire straits several times. Actions had to guarantee progress, actions that, for example, requested money from subscribers. In May 2013, the Friesch Dagblad will once again start such a campaign. All subscribers will receive a letter at home from the newspaper explaining why and how much money the newspaper needs to continue publishing.
Christian regional newspaper
The bond between newspaper and reader is strong. It is the strongest bond in the Netherlands between subscriber and newspaper, according to the Friesch Dagblad. The newspaper is owned by Vereniging Friesch Dagblad. The economic crisis poses major problems for the newspaper, because there is less advertising revenue. The newspaper runs on subscribers and advertising revenue and now that companies are advertising less due to the crisis, those revenues are declining sharply. The subscriptions are fine. Subscribers are added every week, but they do not compensate for the loss of advertising revenue.
Cost
Het Friesch Dagblad cannot cut costs. The newspaper is already produced very cheaply, especially compared to other newspapers in the country. A small team produces a surprisingly good newspaper and correspondents settle for little pay. Costs were saved last year by doing things together with other parties.
Subscriber support
The newspaper asked its subscribers for support in May 2013. The eventful history of the newspaper is full of miracles and one more miracle could well be added. The readers were never appealed to in vain.
Need more money
The newspaper needs 500,000 in a short time. Then the newspaper can tackle the difficult period in the spring of 2013. The Friesch Dagblad is worth the investment of its readers, says the Friesch Dagblad. The newspaper can then continue to provide news of value and serve the Frisians and the future.
Gift and benefit
The newspaper can be supported in two ways:
- gift;
- periodic payment.
A one-off donation has no lower or upper limits and is not deductible from income tax. A periodic payment is in favor of the Vereniging Friesch Dagblad and has a lower limit of € 2,500. To no avail, the Friesch Dagblad can no longer sustain itself independently.
Taken over by NDC
On July 1, 2013, it was announced that the Friesch Dagblad had been acquired for one euro by NDC Mediagroep, the publisher of the Leeuwarder Courant, Dagblad van het Noorden and Nieuwe Dockumer Courant. The number of subscribers in 2015 is just over 10,000.
