This is how you become famous

How do you become famous? Do you also dream of becoming famous? What should you do and what should you not do if you want to become famous? Where do you start if you want to become famous? In any case, the nice thing about becoming famous is that you are never too old for it. You can always work on your career as an artist. Whether you want to become a movie star, singer or fashion model, there are many roads that lead to Rome. You have to develop your talent, otherwise the chance of becoming famous is small. Become famous, by singing or acting or writing your own lyrics. All people who are famous started out not being famous. There are of course exceptions to that rule. Children of famous parents become famous more easily than children of ordinary parents. But becoming famous, for example as an actor, actress, film star or fashion model, can happen to anyone. There are a number of things you can do to increase your chances of becoming famous. There is even a complete manual, written especially for people who want to become famous: Info: Complete artist manual.

How do you become famous?

Becoming famous on your own is not easy, but there are a number of things that help.

  • Take singing, dancing and/or acting lessons. If you want to become famous at a young age, it really makes sense to start as young as possible. So take singing, dancing and/or acting lessons at a drama club, community center or arts center in your area. Take a look in the yellow pages in your place of residence or region, under ‘theatre club’ or ‘theatre association’. You can also search online for theater clubs or singing lessons in your area.
  • If you can tap dance, that is of course a bonus, just like playing an instrument.
  • Participate in auditions and casting
  • Register with agencies where they are looking for talent, for example modeling agencies or casting agencies
  • If you are allowed to audition, find out more about the person they are looking for and make sure you are good in your role. Also make sure you know how a casting works and prepare some good answers in advance if questions are asked
  • Make sure you stand out during the audition and that you appear convincing
  • Make sure you have a good portfolio with photos and a CV

If you are a minor, do not do anything without consulting your parents

Casting agencies and modeling agencies

You’ve probably heard of casting agencies and modeling agencies? These types of agencies register people, from young to old, who can then be selected for a role in a film, a play, a musical, a TV spot or for advertising photos. If you want to become famous and if you want to sign up with such agencies, it is important that you have something to show to an agency. Consider photos (both for modeling and acting) and (preferably) some experience in the field of acting if you want to do something with acting. Sometimes you will be asked for a role in a film, you must first audition. Auditioning involves performing a small piece of theater for the director and his assistant. Often these are just a few lines. The camera will then look at whether you are suitable for the role and how you come across in the film, but of course also whether you dare to act and whether you are good at acting.

Casting agencies, register

A casting agency (or any agency) will definitely ask you for photos of yourself. They prefer to have one (or two) clear portrait photo(s), and a photo of you from head to toe. Sometimes you are asked to also send a black and white photo. Of course you send recent photos, and not photos from a year ago. Choose recognized and well-known casting agencies and never register without consulting your parents. Only audition if your parents have approved. You can register with casting agencies if you are young or old.

CV (curriculum Vitae)

You also write a CV. A CV (in full curriculum vitae) is a kind of description of your life so far, your personality, but with only relevant information about you and an overview of the experience you have gained in the field of, for example, acting or modeling, courses you have taken, and so on. In a CV you write your address details, your date of birth, your height and weight, your eye color, your hair color, your skin color, and any special characteristics of your appearance and inner self. You should also mention any experience you may have already gained, such as the school education you are following, but also, for example, acting experience at a theater club or a youth theater, and how long you have been taking lessons there. You also mention the experience you may have had as an extra in a play, film or musical. Are you taking acting lessons and/or singing or dancing lessons? Be sure to report that, as well as how long you have been taking lessons. If you don’t have lessons but would like to practice at home, you can include that. If you are on YouTube, you can add that. If you had a role in a play at school, you can mention that. A little experience is always welcome. Older people usually have more experience to report on their CV than very young ones, but that’s understandable, so you shouldn’t worry about that when you’re still young.

Who are you?

Also tell us something about yourself. Are you shy or not? What are you good at? What do you consider your positive qualities and what your negative qualities? What are your talents. Do you play music, can you dance or act well, can you write lyrics yourself, can you sing?

Send this information, together with a few clear photos as described above, to casting agencies.

What not to do

  • Send unclear or blurry photos in which you cannot be clearly seen.
  • Lying about your age and/or experience.
  • Just write to any casting or modeling agency. (You should limit yourself to reliable and good agencies)

How do you find a reliable and good casting or modeling agency?

It is best (especially if you are a minor) to find out this together with your parents. It is really important that you do not do anything on your own. Unfortunately, there are agencies that cannot be trusted. They charge a lot of money for registration, and you don’t hear anything about it anymore. (Or worse, anyone can pretend on the internet that they are contacting a model or someone for a role or modeling work, but they are actually contacting children for the wrong reasons and so the whole story about casting or modeling is simply made up.) promises too good to be true? Then it is too good to be true… An honest casting agency does not charge any money for registration, or only a tiny amount of a few euros. An agency that offers to take professional photos of you for a lot of money… then you already know, they are just trying to make money by selling very expensive photo reports. You can pay and there is not much else you can do with those photos. You should therefore always register for a casting or modeling agency with care and in consultation with your parents. It is very important that you only register with such agencies if your parents agree. Moreover, parents often have more life experience and a better view of things, to critically examine the specifics of each agency and advise you. Fortunately, there are many good casting agencies that have built up a good reputation.

There are casting agencies for: actors (actors/actresses), singing, dancing, film roles, extras, TV spots, advertising photos, musicals, and so on.

Acting, how do you become an extra in a film?

You can be cast as an extra for a film through casting agencies. Sometimes there are notices in the newspaper. Such calls can also sometimes be found on the internet. Here too, let your parents help you decide what is and is not suitable for you to sign up for. Auditioning is fun and exciting.

What does an extra do?

It’s a lot of fun to act in a movie. As an extra you play a role in the background of a film and you have no lines. For example, you walk down the street in old-fashioned clothes because the film is set in 1920 (just to name a few). As an extra you are in fact a piece of living scenery. The nice thing about acting is that you gain a bit of experience. You’ll see what it’s like to shoot a film and you can mention your experience as an extra on your resume. You often receive a small compensation in the form of travel expenses and lunch, and (not always) a small amount of money for the appearance itself. Sometimes, however, you don’t get reimbursed at all, then they look for extras who just want to experience it so much that they are willing to pay for the travel costs and the like themselves. Oh well, not every director has a big budget for filming. After all, directors also start small.
