Example of a CV in Word

If you want a new job, there is a good chance that you will first have to apply for it, which requires submitting a Curriculum Vitae (CV). However, drawing up a CV is seen as difficult by many people. If you use this sample CV created in Microsoft Word to compile your own CV, you will now have an advantage over your competitors. In the Netherlands, a Curriculum Vitae often has the same structure. This does not mean that you necessarily have to prepare your CV this way, but it does give you a useful guideline. The components of a CV can be found below.

Contents of a CV

Personal details

Here you provide all your personal information, such as your name and address, place of birth, marital status, driver’s license, etc.

Course

Here you indicate which courses you have followed/completed. If you have completed other courses and/or training, you can also mention them here. It is best to put your most recent education at the top. Which primary school you attended is not relevant and is best placed at the bottom, or even left out.

Work experience

Here you indicate what work you have done and/or are currently doing. Start with your most recent job. You don’t have to mention everything you did, just stick to the relevant things. If you are applying for a job as a manager, it is most likely irrelevant that you have had a brochure district.

Side activities

Here you indicate what things you have done in addition to your education and work experience. For example, are you a volunteer at the local hospital? Are you coaching your little nephew’s soccer team? Were you voluntarily on the board of an association? These are all activities that you can include under the heading of side activities.

Skills

Here you indicate which skills you have. This could include computer programs that you can use, but also typing diplomas, for example.

Languages Here you indicate which languages you speak. Then state the language you speak, whether this is written and/or speech and/or reading and whether you are moderate, good or fluent in it.

Interests

Here you indicate which hobbies you have. This is the part of your CV from which people can infer what type you are and what you like to do.

What should you take into account when writing your CV?

A well-written CV makes the difference between a rejection and an invitation for an interview. So you must pay sufficient attention to writing your Curriculum Vitae in Word. With this short but powerful document you can quickly give others an image of you. Adapt your CV per application and try to keep it limited and relevant. You can include any additional information in your application letter, or you can mention it during the job interview itself.
