Socializing is the new (social) job application

You can of course write application letters and hope that you will be invited, but the new job application is networking! You may not think you have a large network, but the current era is one of creating networks. So also use your circle of friends and acquaintances to find a job.

Let everyone know

If you are looking for a job, make it known, present yourself on LinkedIn, and also use your Facebook, Instagram and Twitter account to let the whole world know that you are looking for a job, who you are and what kind of job you are looking for. Don’t forget that you can start a blog or your own website, all to put yourself in the picture.

Not only do you give companies the opportunity to respond, but also family members, former colleagues, acquaintances and friends can send you vacancies or inform you of vacancies that will become available in their workplace in the short term.

If you don’t have an account yet, create one

Present yourself as you think a company would like to see you, so no impulsive scribbles that you may later regret, such as complaining about your job or colleagues, drinking or drug use, or racist comments. Do well? Ensuring consistent expressions, a social person naturally has a Facebook page with 300 friends and photos in a social context. Strong in communicating? Then you will send tweets into the air every day. And stay interesting in that respect. It is better to tweet a joke (it has humor) than a boring message about the groceries, your bowel movements or what are we eating today? Unless you are looking for a job as a chef, then the latter can be interesting, especially linked to a Facebook page with the recipes and a few photos of the delicious dishes you make.

What else can LinkedIn do for you?

Also register for various LinkedIn groups, so that your future employers can see where your interests lie.
What you should not do is make controversial statements or create strange email addresses with a pet name, for example. That really doesn’t come across as professional.

Twillquote

Twilling means applying for a job via Twitter. At www.twilliciteer.nl you can apply for a new job via a tweet. Practice with this, because it is not easy to sell yourself in 140 characters. In addition to LinkedIn, you now also have Mr Work, Recruitr, Socialrefferal, Twitjobs and perhaps even more.

Put yourself even more in the picture

Happened? Then there are even more ways to make yourself visible. Find an interesting company in your area and get on the phone. Call the company, ask for the personnel manager and tell them that you are orientating yourself on the labor market and would like to get to know the company. Ask if it is possible to introduce yourself and take a tour of the company. Be enthusiastic and try to leave a good impression. If the contact on both sides is positive, do not hesitate to contact us again a few days later with your CV in hand.

Stand out

Still applying traditionally? Then make sure you stand out. Create a Prezi CV (Prezi is a kind of online Powerpoint, just Google it) and provide hyperlinks to the companies where you have worked, especially if they are relatively unknown companies. In short: if you have a network, you have a chance!
