Income versus expenses

If our country is doing badly due to a recession or if there is no work, then we have to make savings. Citizens’ wallets are being eroded by crises, but also because people simply no longer have work. You cannot live extensively on benefits. It is therefore time to save on expenses. But where should you start? In this article you will find a number of useful tips that can help you save quite a bit of money in a simple way.

Compare your basic health insurance package

You have to spend a considerable part of your income on health insurance. Health insurance becomes more and more expensive every year. That is why you would do well to compare between different health insurance providers. The fact is that one package is less extensive than the other package and that also has an effect on the price. In addition, you can obtain a significant discount on your expenses with group health insurance. An important question is also whether you really need that additional insurance. The additional insurance policies are often a drain on your wallet and you often do not use them. Compare the different basic health insurance policies online so you can save considerably.

Severance pay to pay debts

If there is a recession, there is a real chance that you will be fired. You will then be faced with a dismissal procedure, in which you will receive reasonable severance pay . If you have been employed for a long time, you may be able to receive a much higher severance payment. You can use the part of the severance payment that you do not have to use for any retraining to pay off your outstanding debts. You have to pay debts with interest and that is a waste of money. Then also pay off your debts because debts are a recurring expense item.

WOZ value saving tips!

Every year the value of your home is determined by the municipality and on that basis you are charged with levies and taxes. Consider:

  • residential flat rate;
  • real estate taxes;
  • sewerage and water board taxes;
  • and such.

Because house prices can sometimes drop drastically, the value of your home can also quickly decrease. The municipality bases the WOZ value on the market value of your home on data from a year ago. In other words, a price difference. The WOZ value of each home is then classified too high and you therefore pay too much in levies and taxes. To do something about this, you have six weeks to submit a WOZ objection after you have received the municipal decision.

Turn the heater down a setting

You also want to stay warm in winter. Energy prices can vary greatly and that hits you directly in the wallet. The question then is how warm do you want to sit? Turn the heater a few degrees colder so that the central heating does not have to come on as often. This way you can save a lot on your energy bill. To prevent you from feeling uncomfortable in your home, you can put on a little more clothes. An extra pair of socks makes you feel comfortable at home. Burn less and save on your energy bill.

Don’t take branded products

Branded products are by definition expensive. Then look around to see if you can’t find a comparable product. Good quality products are often offered alongside branded products. You can therefore benefit from that. You don’t necessarily have to use branded products either. There is also no shame in visiting cheap stores to meet your food needs. Purchasing branded products is a waste of money. Be price conscious and take second-rate products.

Go to the pub less, drink at home

We like fun. But we all know that having a drink in the pub is expensive. The prices of alcohol and tobacco increase every year. A beer in the pub has therefore become relatively expensive. Be sensible and invite your friends home for a party. You can still get beer relatively cheaply. The tip is of course that you do not have to bear the costs of a house party alone, but that everyone simply pays their share. You can also have fun in your own familiar living environment.
