Many of us can’t imagine it, but there are a lot of people who don’t even have money to buy clothes. EZRA Foundation wants to mean something to these people.
About the foundation
In Hebrew, Ezra means help. EZRA Foundation wants to offer a helping hand to the less fortunate. The foundation provides practical support in the form of new and reusable clothing and shoes to people who cannot afford this themselves. The foundation contributes not only in the Netherlands, but also abroad.
The foundation’s head office is located in Almelo, Overijssel.
Completed projects
In 2009, EZRA Foundation provided children in an orphanage in Kenya with clothing. In the same year, an orphanage in Bali was also helped. A little closer to home, namely in a Romanian orphanage, woolen blankets, clothing and shoes were provided in 2010.
Current projects
Since 2009, the Ortega family has been going to Peru several times a year to wish poor families a Merry Christmas. EZRA Foundation provides the family with clothing for around 300 children each time. Another structural project supported by the foundation is a clothing project in Gambia, Africa. This project has been supported by EZRA Foundation since 2010. The projects abroad fall under the name EZRA Helps.
EZRA Children’s Clothing is a project that has been providing children’s clothing to Almolese families who are not well off since 2008. Because EZRA Foundation works with various agencies, it knows exactly where children’s clothing is urgently needed in Almelo.
Not only has a children’s clothing bank been set up, adults are also of paramount importance . EZRA Foundation wants to ensure that adults with a limited budget can make a good impression. She not only provides them with everyday clothing, but she also provides clothes that can be worn on special occasions. This project is called EZRA Fashion.
In addition to clothing projects, the foundation has taken a new initiative: EZRA Books. EZRA Foundation believes that all children should have the opportunity to read. The foundation gives children who come for clothing through a referral the opportunity to select books. The children can choose whether they want to keep the books or exchange them for other books.
