National Children’s Aid Fund

Every child has the right to happiness, right?! There is a large group of children in the Netherlands for whom that happiness is not so normal. These children live in an unwanted situation due to various circumstances. It is important that children grow up in a stable and loving family. That there is order and regularity. Unfortunately, this is not the case for a certain group of children. Did you know that 5% of children in the Netherlands come into contact with youth care? This group of children often feels different. In a world where it is normal for primary school children to walk around with mobile phones, where it is normal to go on holiday at least once a year and where everyone ‘just’ gets a new bicycle when the old one is broken? Unfortunately, it is not normal for everyone.

What is the National Children’s Aid Fund?

The National Fund for Children’s Aid is a nationally operating fund, affiliated with the ANBI. The aim is to make extras possible for children in youth care. The current foundation was founded in 1959 under the name SAKOR (Collaborating Child Protection Organizations). In 1986 the name was changed to the National Child Protection Fund and in 1992 it was given the current name National Child Care Fund.

What does the National Children’s Aid Fund do?

Kinderhulp is committed to helping children whose home situation is not optimal. This could be a Sinterklaas present, a bicycle or making the child a member of a sports club. This way children can be children and enjoy themselves in gloomy times.

This includes various things, such as camping holidays, Sinterklaas, room furnishings, playground equipment at institutions or memberships of sports clubs. About one million euros goes to (large) national projects, such as the X-Change Foster Care Weekend or a theater performance about and for children in youth care. In addition, Kinderhulp spends approximately half a million euros on information about youth care and the role of Kinderhulp within it.

What is the difference between the National Children’s Aid Fund and other children’s funds such as Jantje Beton?
